Turkey's defense ministry announced Monday that NATO forces in the eastern Mediterranean intercepted a ballistic missile fired from Iranian territory after it entered Turkish airspace. In its announcement, the ministry said, "We once again emphasize that all necessary measures will be taken decisively and without hesitation against any threat at our country's territory." It added that debris from the missile landed in Gaziantep and that there were no casualties or damage from the incident. NATO air and missile defense forces neutralized an Iranian ballistic missile over Turkey earlier today that was likely heading for Incirlik Air Base. pic.twitter.com/woUeGyoD02 — OSINTdefender (@sentdefender) March 9, 2026 This was the second ballistic missile intercepted over Turkish territory.
