Report: Iran 'ready to abandon nuclear program' for satisfactory alternative offer

2026-03-05 - 14:17

According to a report by Sky News Arabia, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister said Iran is ready to "abandon its nuclear program on condition that the United States presents a satisfactory alternative offer." This came as President Donald Trump declined to rule out talks with the Iranian leadership. Asked by Politico whether the opportunity to work with a future Iranian government still existed, Trump said, "Nope, not too late. 49 [senior Iranian leaders] were killed, don't forget, so that goes pretty deep, right? New ones are emerging. A lot of people want the job. Some of them would be very good." US intelligence assessments as of March 4 show a decline of 89% in Iran's ballistic missile launch rates. That trend is reflected in recent launch data: fire from the Iranian axis toward Israel has fallen nearly 80% in under a week. Approximately 90 launches were recorded on Feb. 28. By March 3, that figure had plunged to roughly 20, a drop of some 70 launches in a matter of days. On Tuesday, March 4, the trend showed no sign of reversing, with fewer than 20 launches detected from the Iranian axis.
