King Charles to become patron of Jewish security group after London attack

2026-03-24 - 15:15

A significant development has emerged involving the Community Security Trust (CST): King Charles has announced he will become the organization's official patron, effectively assuming its honorary leadership. The announcement comes amid a hate crime or act of Iranian-inspired terror targeting the ambulances of a Jewish rescue organization operating in the Jewish neighborhood of Golders Green in the British capital. Security camera footage shows three masked individuals arriving and pouring flammable materials on four of the organization's ambulances. Following the serious incident, the CST – which coordinates the defense of all Jews across the United Kingdom – approached King Charles requesting his formal support for Britain's Jewish community. The request, which reached Buckingham Palace in the immediate aftermath of the hate crime, was swiftly approved by the king and announced on Monday at the organization's official charity dinner. Representing the king at the dinner was one of his senior officers, Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson. The royal representative arrived at the event together with the Metropolitan Police Commissioner and the British Home Secretary. In this respect, the announcement coming in such close proximity to the hate crime amounts to a resounding statement from the royal household about the importance of the Jewish community and the desire to protect it. Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police is investigating the arson of the four ambulances together with its Counter Terrorism Command. The unusual involvement of the counter-terror unit reflects concerns that the serious incident, which caused the ambulances to explode, shattered windows in the adjacent synagogue and in other Jewish-owned properties, was Iranian-inspired. Against the backdrop of the war between Israel and Iran, the kingdom's authorities fear the incident may be connected, which is why the counter-terror unit has been closely involved. The CST expressed great joy at the king's decision, which was announced at the organization's annual charity dinner.
